    Solo Female Camino Packing List

The Camino is one of the safest long-distance walks in the world for solo women — but smart preparation is still smart preparation. This list focuses on safety, lightweight gear, and the items women specifically wish they'd brought.

Safety reality check: Tens of thousands of women walk solo every year. Serious incidents are rare. The biggest risks are blisters, dehydration, and bedbugs — not strangers.

    Solo female strategy

    • Walk in the morning. Most solo women are off the trail by 2 pm.
    • Share your daily plan with one person at home via WhatsApp every morning.
    • Pre-book private rooms in pensions every 3rd night for proper rest.
    • Avoid isolated stretches at dusk. The path is well-marked but empty after dark.
    • Trust pilgrim community first — fellow walkers are your network.
    • If something feels off, change albergues. No explanation needed.
