Real pilgrims. Real gear. No paid placements.
Camino Packing List exists because almost every "best gear" list we read before our first Camino was wrong about something important — and that something cost us blisters, money, and a few painful days. We built this site to fix that.
Who we are
Our editorial team has collectively walked the Camino Francés (×3), Portugués (Coastal and Central), Camino del Norte, and Camino Inglés — over 2,400 km of pilgrim trail. Lead editor Maria Santos has guided new pilgrims since 2019 and contributed to gear reviews for several outdoor publications.
How we test
- On-trail testing. Every "Pilgrim Tested" badge means at least one team member has walked 200+ km with that exact item.
- Pilgrim interviews. We've collected feedback from 500+ pilgrims via in-person conversations, surveys, and forum analysis.
- Independence. We buy most gear at retail. Brands cannot pay for placement, badges, or favorable reviews.
- Updated regularly. Gear ages, prices change, new products launch. We revisit every guide at least twice a year.
How we make money
Some product links on this site are Amazon affiliate links. If you buy through them, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That income pays for hosting, photography, and the Caminos themselves. It does not influence which products we recommend. We frequently recommend the cheapest option in a category when it genuinely performs best.
