    Albergues: the Pilgrim Hostel Guide

Albergues are the heart of the Camino. Here's how the system actually works.

    Three types

    • Municipal (€8–12): Run by the town. First-come, first-served. Pilgrim-only with credencial.
    • Parochial / donativo: Donation-based, often religious. Community dinner. Magical.
    • Private (€12–25): Bookable in advance. Smaller dorms, better facilities, sometimes private rooms.

    Etiquette

    • Lights out by 22:00. Pilgrims rise at 5–6am.
    • Use a sleeping bag liner — bed bugs are a real, ongoing issue.
    • Always pack your bag the night before so morning is silent.
    • Earplugs are non-negotiable.

    Find accommodation on the Camino

Search hotels, private rooms, and apartments along the route.
