What to deliberately NOT double up on
- Two of every toiletry
- Two guidebooks
- Two headlamps
- Two power banks (one is enough if you charge nightly)
- Two pairs camp shoes if you can share size
- Two full first aid kits
- Two large towels
Splitting the heavy items
- Stronger walker carries the shared toiletry/repair kit (~400 g).
- Other carries the shared first aid and electronics pouch.
- Rebalance every morning — whoever's feet hurt more carries less.
Relationship rules of the trail
- Agree on the day's end town before you start walking.
- Walk at the slower person's pace, no exceptions.
- One "silent hour" each morning — no conversation required.
- Separate beds whenever possible after week one. You'll thank us.
