Blisters end more Caminos than any other issue. Here's how to prevent them:
Choose the Right Footwear
Your shoes should fit perfectly - not too tight, not too loose. Visit a specialty running store for a proper fitting.
Sock Strategy Matters
Wear moisture-wicking socks, never cotton. Some pilgrims swear by liner socks under hiking socks. Darn Tough merino wool socks are pilgrim favorites.
Lubrication is Key
Apply anti-chafe balm or Vaseline to hotspot areas before you start each day. Pay special attention to toes and heels.
Tape Proactively
If you know where you get blisters, tape those areas before problems start. Leukotape is the gold standard.
Keep Feet Dry
Change socks mid-day if they're damp. Air out your feet during breaks. Wet feet blister faster.
Address Hot Spots Immediately
The moment you feel friction, stop and address it. A two-minute break beats a two-day recovery.
