Arriving in Santiago de Compostela
You made it. Here's exactly what to do on arrival day.
Step 1: The Cathedral
Walk into Praza do Obradoiro. Sit on the stone. Cry, laugh, or just sit quietly.
Step 2: Pilgrim Office (get your Compostela)
Rúa Carretas, 33. Open daily. Bring your credencial with stamps from the last 100 km. Free Compostela certificate; €3 for the optional distance certificate.
Step 3: Pilgrim Mass (12:00 daily)
Sometimes featuring the Botafumeiro (giant swinging incense burner). Arrive 30 min early for a seat.
Step 4: Stay & eat
Treat yourself to a private room. Eat pulpo and drink Albariño in the old town.
