Camino Inglés FAQ
How long is the Camino Inglés?+
From Ferrol it is 120 km to Santiago de Compostela, typically walked in 5 to 7 days. The alternative start in A Coruña is only 75 km, which is under the 100 km minimum for a Compostela unless you add the official 25 km complementary route.
Is the Camino Inglés hard?+
It is rated easy to moderate. Daily stages run 20 to 25 km over rolling Galician hills with a few 300 m climbs. There is no crossing comparable to the Pyrenees or the Hospitales route.
Do I need to book albergues on the Camino Inglés?+
Rarely. The route sees a fraction of the Francés traffic, so beds are usually available on arrival. Book ahead only in July and August or during a Holy Year.
Can I earn a Compostela on the Camino Inglés?+
Yes. Start in Ferrol for 120 km and collect two credencial stamps per day. Starting in A Coruña requires walking the extra complementary stage to reach 100 km.
What should I pack for the Camino Inglés?+
The same core kit as any Camino but skewed to rain: a properly waterproof shell, a pack cover, quick-dry layers and shoes that handle wet grass and mud. Galicia is green because it rains all year.
